Exceeding Petspectations
Big Paw Services you found my hideout - cats only please...
...A lot of his training was to teach me how to react to certain situations.  In no time at all, we were meeting other dogs in the neighborhood with positive results.  And last session Adir took one of our dogs to the dog park to meet other dogs.  Adir is also very active with the courts. He interacts with my probation officer regularly.  He even videotaped our training sessions to show the probation officer our progress. - Gail, Boulder

The Boulder Bite Diversion Program is a program sponsored by Boulder Police Animal Control and the 20th district Judicial System.  It was created as a means to help curb aggressions before or after they occur to give Boulder residence an opportunity to correct an aggressive or disruptive behavior.  It provides the defendant an opportunity to show their side of the story through court approved trainers for professional evaluations or behavior modification training programs.

Big Paw Services are court appointed and approved bite diversion evaluators and trainers.  Our task is to verify behaviors from a professional point-of-view to give defendants a fair and honest assessment for their dog's behavior from a professional expert witness.

A dog doesn't need to injure another dog, animal, or human to be deemed aggressive in Boulder.  A dog is deemed aggressive if he or she show signs of potential aggression or instill enough fear to have startled or scared someone who believes the dog acted aggressively.

We have yet to fail a dog in all our years since 1998. That said, people have failed their dogs. That's not to say that there aren't extreme cases where the dog is beyond the point-of-no-return.  These redline cases are extremely rare.  They are a result of many years of neglecting and negative encouragement.

If you were cited by Animal Control or referred to us by the courts, it is important you contact us as soon as possible so you can have this part of the process completed before your hearing.  Scheduling a bite diversion evaluation could take a few weeks and a few days to write up the report.

What exactly is a bite diversion evaluation?
